FluxFall has a Facebook ad now
I built a Facebook ad for FluxFall, because apparently I am that guy now. Views are climbing, and sales will hopefully follow. The thesis is simple: the more often the book is in front of strangers, the more chances one of them squints at it long enough to actually buy a copy. As far as I can tell, marketing is just persistence with a credit card attached.
“The Gravity of Three” is in cleanup phase
The first draft of The Gravity of Three is done. Now comes the part nobody romanticizes — cleanup, rewrites, staring at a single paragraph for forty-five minutes wondering if a comma is gonna impact sales. I’m aiming for a late-summer release. I came up with the cover too. I really love it and I hope you will enjoy the story.
This one is nothing like FluxFall. Different gears entirely. It means a lot to me, which is exactly why I want to take the time to get it right. My quiet hope: it ends up in the hands of the right reader, and a few years from now somebody is settling in on a Sunday night to watch the next episode on a streaming service. There is nothing wrong with aiming high right? A old man can dream.
The epic Sci-Fi has a name: “Meridian Drift, Book 1: The Concord Crisis”
After dragging my feet for what felt like a small geological era, I finally landed on the title. Meridian Drift, Book 1: The Concord Crisis.
Still in progress. Deep, tragic, and intelligent and political in the way The Expanse is intelligent and political — which is to say, the kind of story where the politics are devious and have shadowy plans. Multiple books. A larger universe sitting behind it. I am, against my own attempts at humility, very proud of this one. More on it as the pieces lock into place.
Introducing FluxFall Fridays
Here’s the thing I am most fired up about: writing FluxFall Protocol was so much fun that I refuse to ration the universe to one book a year.
So — FluxFall Fridays. A new short story every week, roughly 500 words, each one digging into a different character or corner of the FluxFall universe. Quick. Snackable. Built for your Friday afternoon coffee. It starts Friday, May 8th. I woke up this morning thinking about Karen Hodges, so she is probably first out of the gate. We’ll see if she lets me write her without putting up a fight.
To everyone who has been along for the ride so far — thank you. This is what I want to do for the rest of my life. It took 50-something years to figure that out, but better late than never. I hope you stay for the journey. It will be twice as much fun as the destination.
